At BeeFree Adventures we take pride in supporting small companies. This summer I ran into an article about a guy who was tired of paying $400+ for high-end down sleeping bags so he started a company. That is when we purchased the Outdoor Vitals Sleeping Bag, the most awesome bag you’ve ever seen. This is my comprehensive review.
To start off, the price is absolutely unheard of. A light weight, 800+ fill down sleeping bag for under $200. Backpackers everywhere only dream of these things . Outdoor Vitals offers an array of bags in many different sizes and colors. For our adventures we decided to go for the Summit 20° Bag. I got a regular length black and the misses ended up getting a short length blue one. Each of these sizes turned out to be a perfect for us. We were just as snug as a bug in a rug.
When I first placed the order I can admit that I was a bit skeptical of what the quality would be because of the lower price tag. I should of worried. Too put it bluntly, I was astonished at what I received. The Ultralight ripstop material is really smooth and soft. A true joy to have against your skin. To prevent your bag for ripping or snagging when opening or closing, Outdoor Vitals threw in a heavy-duty 2-Way YKK zipper. The head portion is equipped with a drawstring to close up the hole tight around your head during those really cold nights.
Personally, we have slept in near freezing temperatures and have never once been cold. The down fill that Outdoor Vitals uses is responsibly sourced and DWR treated. On the outside of the bag you will notice the grid baffle system they use to sew pockets that hold the warmth wear it matters most.
“In the end it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
The Summit series is perfect for backpacking. The bag comes with a compression sack to help save space in your pack. The super lightweight design mimics that of high-end bags that cost three times the amount. At 2.5 pounds for the regular size bag, your back will be happy you chose Outdoor Vitals too.
All in all the Summit sleeping bag from Outdoor Vitals has provided me with way more than I ever could have expected. We will be going on some Winter adventures soon to see just how close to the 20° temp we can get.
